Special Cranes

Automated

The demand for automated cranes is growing at fast pace in the modern industry and OMIS is there to offer its experience to those who need to improve production and cut on labor costs.

Whether it is a waste handling plant or steel coils stockyard, a billet vertical warehouse or a pallet stockroom, OMIS software engineers can exploit the improved mechanical characteristics of automated cranes to reduce handling times drastically.

The use of automated cranes also permits a significant improvement in terms of safety and is therefore strongly recommended in all those environments where personnel safety is at high risk.

Depending on the ambient characteristics, the technology that our design engineers employ is decided upon the reliability that every single part can grant under specific conditions. This represents one of the key points to the success of OMIS in this area.

Gantry Cranes

The production of gantry cranes, also called Goliath cranes, has been one of the strong points throughout OMIS history. Standard production ranges from 10 ton to 40 ton, and features single and double girder as well as semi-gantry cranes. Cantilever types also come as standard up to 40 ton.
Higher capacities gantry cranes are also available.

The main structure of our gantry cranes is manufactured in one of our production lines, with special machines that have been designed by our engineers and built in-house. Thanks to this distinctive technology, we are able to achieve great precision in the alignment of all elements, which ensures smooth operation of the crane and reduces maintenance on the traveling mechanisms

Heavy-Duty

Thanks to the long experience of our senior design engineers and the knowledge attained in over 40 years of customers’ feedback, OMIS has become synonymous of great proficiency and reliability in the domain of heavy-duty machines.

OMIS sales engineers are highly qualified to analyze special customers’ requirements and advise on the most suitable solutions, for any heavy-duty crane is seen as part of the environment in which it operates.

Redundancy of components is often used to safeguard the continuous operation of this type of cranes, and appropriate scheduled servicing is normally discussed with the clients. In this view, particular care is taken by our technical department to design reliable yet simple components that are easy to service.

All our machines are conceived as open systems that can be accessed by any service engineers with no special skills. Any of the electrical parts as well as most of the mechanical parts can be easily found in the market.

Large Capacity

OMIS has designed and manufactured large capacity cranes throughout its history and can now count on hundreds of installations of cranes from 70 tons upwards in various industries such as steelworks, generators productions, power stations, forging plants, plastic molding and others.

The concepts of simplicity and modularity that characterize OMIS standard production are also employed in the design and manufacturing of this type of cranes, in order to guarantee fast delivery, product reliability and easy maintenance.
All our large capacity cranes are fitted with open barrel hoists produced in-house. These hoists are generously designed, all fitted with strain-gauge load limiting devices and trolleys are CNC machined to ensure precision on the alignment of all mechanisms.
Large capacity cranes can also be manufactured with split joints so that they can be shipped in 40-foot Open Top containers

Standard Cranes

Double Girder

OMIS standard production of double-girder cranes covers capacities up to 60 tons and spans up to 32 meters. For capacities up to 10 tons, cranes can be fitted with either prepackaged hoists or open barrel hoists, the latter being available for swl up to 150 ton.
All movements are Inverter driven, whereas dual speed versions are also available on request.
OMIS has been the first crane company to make extensive use of the Inverter technology in Italy, for the smooth movements it induces on cranes and the reduced maintenance it brings on all electrical and mechanical components.
Girders can be supplied with split joints so that they can be shipped in 40-foot Open Top containers. No welding at site is required.
Standard double-girder cranes are designed in A5/M5 as per FEM standards, but can also be supplied in A6/M6 duty group.

Jibs and Light Crane Systems

Pillar and wall-mounted jib cranes are specifically designed to serve encircled work areas, generally for lifting light loads. Our standard production covers jib cranes with a max load capacity of 2 ton and a max outreach of 8 metres, but bigger jibs are also available.
They are normally fitted with chain hoists, though wire rope hoists can also be used in case of larger load capacities.

Swing range can vary from 180 to 360 degrees, in accordance with the operational requirements. Jibs are easy to operate given their low deadweight; nevertheless all movements can also be motorized.

Special designs include low-headroom jibs as well as two-arm jibs and extensible or even articulated-arm jibs.

A wall travelling crane can be regarded as a peculiar type of wall-mounted jib, which travels on two runway

beams fixed on one side of the building. These cranes are normally conceived to operate underneath EOT cranes and serve one or more work areas along the building hall.

Single Girder

OMIS standard production of single girder cranes covers capacities up to 10 ton and spans up to 25 metres. Cranes are fitted with low-headroom hoists featuring a max height of lift of 13 m and lifting speed ranging from 4 m/min to 8 m/min.
All movements are Inverter driven, whereas dual speed versions are also available on request.
OMIS has been the first crane company to make extensive use of the Inverter technology in Italy, for the smooth movements it induces on cranes and the reduced maintenance it brings on all electrical and mechanical components.

Standard single-girder cranes are designed in A5/M5 as per FEM standards, but can also be supplied in A6/M6 duty group.
